rear bumper questions

I removed my rear bumper and decided to clean it up by removing the pads and trim, fill in the holes and mount some license plate lights for the euro plate dimensions.

My question is where can I get a couple small reflectors to cover the 4 bolts that secure the bumper? Any other ideas to hide them short of welding on mounts to the back of the bumper.

At the moment the bumper just looks evil on the car, but once painted it should look pretty nice.

I have done the same thing. The way I see it you only have a few options. You can get covers for the bolts (I could not find any), put the trim back that covers them (not a bad option), or get studs welded in (aluminum). I have seen pictures of the latter, and it looks really nice with no trim. I, personally, just painted the nuts, and the problem will be fixed when I eventually go to fiberglass. I have also seen them with the trim in place, and the pads removed, and that looks pretty good, too.

Don't forget to sell your bumper pads, once removed. You can get a decent price for them from people who's pads have been compromised. I did not, because the studs in my pads were rusted into the rubber.

I will sell the pads for sure, just one of them has a broken studd but it holds on the car fine. Them pads are quite heavy that's for sure!

Smitty, I stayed with the trim. Just seemed like too much painted bumper without it.

All I need to cover are the mounting bolts.

Kurt, I considered that but the euro plate covers up more of the bumper and it looks ok to me. I may end up just cutting down and old refector and making some mounts with fiberglass...guess I will continue the search in the meantime.

NAPA had a big selection of reflectors last time I was in there, I think they are mostly used on trucks and trailers but they would also work for you.

Thanks Pari, that would be cool. I am looking for 2"x4" that have a back plate that mounts and then the reflector snaps onto it. PM me you number and I can call you.

TBULL, I used a body filler that I picked up at my local parts store...it came with a wire mesh that is placed behind the holes. So like Bondo I guess.

The bumper is "in the works" stage of development, awaiting a little more fine touch up and the paint. Now I can mount the standard euro plates.
