poly trailing arm bushings
I've just read all of the negative comments about these bushings. Probably should have done my homework before hand but I just have too many other items to deal with simultaneously i.e. completing engine rebuild etc. The bushings are already mounted into the arms. A few things I notice and don't like.
- no metal bushing down the middle or sides - the overall width is narrower than original and seems to have much more slop - lack of flexibily/compliance My thought was to drill out the centre to accomodate the original inserts. This would also mean grinding the sides slightly to get back to the original width. Please let me know your thoughts on this or if anybody has done this. BTW this is stock 73T Thanks, Joe |

You are correct on all counts. You're in for more unhappiness when you hear the squeaks while driving and find it is difficult/impossible to wrestle the alignment into position due to limited compliance.
If you drill out the centers to accept the metal sleeves, you will make the polyurethane thinner. You will have even less compliance than now! My advice: cut your losses. Get monoballs or factory rubber bushings.

If you're talking about the inner bushings, then do not use them in any way.
The inner bushing has to not only rotate around it's axis, but twist as well. A plastic bushing just can't do that. It will eventually break to pieces. Go with monoballs or stock replacements. Monoballs are actually very streetable.

Elephant Racing offers a sealed monoball - better for street use.
