Considering selling, whats it worth?
Looking for insight into what early 911 hotrods are going for. Time to try something new, considering a 964. Here is a good description.
1970 911 T with 70,xxx original miles. Extremely nice bare metal respray in Porsche Orange code 156, Sikkens brand paint, 3 years ago. The little bit of rust there was, was cut out and new metal welded in. One small spot on each door, the passenger headlight bucket, and under both seats. Suspension pan and mounting points are all solid. This car is as rust free as a non-galvanized car can be. Interior floor pans and rear seats stripped to metal and POR'd, then covered with soundproofing and new RS style carpet. Custom seats recently recovered in Vinyl/cord. Driver seat is tube frame bucket, nicely padded RSR style with Recaro headrest, passenger is Recaro plastic 73 RS lightweight bucket just recovered to match driver seat. Autopower roll bar, Schroth 4 point belts and/or SC retractable belts that I haven't gotten around to installing. New Prototipo wheel, very nice dash, one crack in drivers knee pad, RS door panels, nice white original head liner. WEVO shifter. Suspension done 4 years ago. Turbo tie rods and rack spacers. A-Arms stripped, painted and rebuilt with weltmeister bushings. Hollow 21mm torsion bars front, 26mm bars rear. 22mm sway bar front, 19mm bar rear. Aluminum trailing arms and sway away adjustable spring plates in back. 16x7 Fuchs, refinished early style by Wheel Enhancement, 205/55 tires. Brakes done 4 years ago. 23mm master cylinder, Super blue fluid, 4 piston Boxter Brembos in front with Zimmerman vented/drilled rotors. Modified 951 rears with carrera Zimmerman rotors in the back. Twin plug 3.5 liter motor. Built by Andial in the 80's, sat in owners garage for 10 years before I bought it. I have been driving it all over for 6 years. Daytona last year and Atlanta this weekend for the Petite Le Mans. MFI , RS pump with custom everything. Crankfire ignition. RSR style headers, o2 bung, sport muffler powder with high temp powder coating. Very large oil cooler in the RS bumper, temp rarely sees 195. 86 Euro 915 gearbox with external oil cooler, rebuilt this summer, syncros on 1 and 2, all new dog teeth. I have a price range in mind but welcome input. ![]()

Wow, stunning car!!! I know it would cost far more to replicate but I will take a stab at price... 35K It would cost almost double that to have it built.

I lusted after your car at Rennsport. Very nice and unique. I'd say low-to-mid $20k myself. Maybe $24k?

Dunno Paul, between the orange paint and all the bastard parts, it's not worth much. Tell you what, I'll pop by this weekend with $15k and take it off your hands

Seems many of these cars land in the low 20's if you want to sell - upper 20's to 30 if you want to sit on them for awhile. Of course with all the interest in the early cars - I'd stick it on ebay with a bunch of big friggin pictures and a high reserve and see what happens. Never know if there is some dude with too much money on his hands that falls in love with your car -
BTW I love your car - but unfortunatly I don't have wads o' cash...

For a knowledgable buyer, the top quality bodywork and bare metal respray is a huge value adder on an early car. In my opinion, that's the main value difference between a low $20s RS replica and a low $30s RS replica.
Plus the Andial MFI motor. The 915 everyone wants. Wow. Don't let it go for a dime under $30k. Probably closer to $40k if you find the right buyer (and no one would buy a car like that unless they could appreciate the specs). |

yep- If I were you & the car presents in person as good as in the photos I would not take less than $30k.
And going from that to a 964... are you sure?!!? ![]() |

It is really difficult to value a car like this right now. The market is moving upward on early cars quite quickly, it seems.
I would not sell it for less than $30K to be sure. Try to get all the documentation that you can, esp. any Andial receipts, and any to do with the repaint, etc.. WHERE you sell it will be a big factor in the pricing as well.

My question as well...why sell? I don't see a 964 as moving up. So, what's wrong?

From the sounds of it, everything was done right, and the color is easily one of the most deisrable...
It's around $32/33K, IMHO. Plus or minus depending on driveability and detailed visuals.

It is narrow body, i didnt want to go the clone route. I realize that it bears stricking resemblance to an RS, but the front bumper and ducktail are more out of function than form.
I like the 964 alot and have been thinking of something a little more practical lately. I dont necessarily consider it a move up, just different....with heat and air. ![]() Paul

I'd say that Andial 3.5 with trick MFI add's a 10K premium over your standard 20-25K RS replica/911 hotrod. So yea, 30-35K seems about right.

Holy smokes, Paul. I can't imagine selling my car when its all done. But I'm guessing you didn't really think "Hey, once I get it all like I want it, I'll sell."
The 993 does call my name though. ![]() Good luck!

I don't know waht your personal situation is but I have to agree with pwd72s. Why sell? You'd be nuts to sell that car for a 964. If you can handle it, keep this car, borrow the money for the 964, buy it, drive it a year and then decide. My bet is that you'll dump the 964 and keep this one. If you sell this one and then don't like the 964 you'll be kicking your self in the arse.

Nice car, you should be looking at high $20s to mid $30s. Now I have to mention I think you're nuts to sell it but that's my opinion.

Interesting, all the guys with early cars (pre-74 ) are suggesting prices $30K +. Guys with later cars (post-73) are suggesting $20s.
