front cross-member compatability?

Can anyone verify if a front cross-member (part number 911.341.101.01, apparently for an '84 Carrera) will fit a '78 SC.

Thanks, Jeff. I also managed to get under the car last night and verify my broken crossmember has tha t number.

One further question. Can I just remove the front tosion bar caps and adjusters and pull the bars out the front?
