Troubleshooting Cruse Control
Troubleshooting Cruse Control
OK my Cruse Control worked two weeks ago. Went to use it yesterday and no cruse control. I replaced the steering wheel, and adjusted the idle and mixture. Just an FYI I don’t see how this would affect cruse but you never know. Here is what I have done so far. Did a search on the forums. Checked the fuse. Pulled the control lever and turn on and off the car. Looked for any disconnected hoses in the engine compartment. I have a 44 mile one way commute to work and like the cruse so do tell me to disconnect it or sell it. |

Did you do any clutch adjustment/alteration? My cc won't work unless the clutch pedal is all the way out.

The first thing I would check is the cruise control brake switch. It is bolted to the floor located just to the right of the gas pedal inside the center tunnel. It is operated by a lever that attaches to the brake pedal shaft. The switch can come loose and move. The lever should just contact the switch when the brake is in its normal position. Use a test light or meter to check. I found it easier to remove the gas pedal to do the adjustment.
Good Luck Andrew

I think Andrew is talking about the clutch switch....the brake switch is behind the master cylinder in the back of the trunk unless they moved it after '86.
Also don't forget to check the relay which is in the main fuse/relay bank. |
