New LM1 Setup
OK I did search and I have read a good deal of the 103 page manual and I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express but I need help. I ordered and received a LM1 with rpm kit. I used the quick start info and did a 10+/- minute run with my car. Attached to the port on my computer and I am having little to no luck. Every time i attempt to start logworks I get a "No HW detected" message. I did download the info which I now have on a chart showing two sets of voltage readings. I am a plug and play computer guy. I like printers that work when you plug them in. Is my ignorance getting the best of me or is this more simple than I am making it? How can one rebuild a Porsche engine using a book and have success but cant operate a tool that makes that engine better? I am going to breakfast to think about this. Any help would be appreciated and i also would appreciate any links to threads that will make this set up less complex than I am making it.
Thanks, Kevin

Realtime logging with new software works only when 12V cable is connected, as far as I remember.
WBO2 sensors must be connected and heater-voltage engaged in order to connect trough RS232.

9volts battery in the lm1 is for basic functionality only you need 12 volts to power the WB sensor 9 volts should be enough for the laptop to connect to the lm1... it should connect, and tell you no power on the lm1 and on the laptop if 12 volts is not connected

LW 1.4 could connect to LM1 powered by 9V.

can't say i noticed a difference after updating, so with LW2 , you can't simply log data, then takeyour LM1 and download it to your laptop without the 12V?? strange, i'll check again tomorrow, i've been taking my laptop to my car, not the lm1 to my laptop...

But despite the message you can still download logs from the LM-1 in the usual manner. Regards, Klaus |

OK I have it working somewhat. I did take the laptop down and it works much better that way. Still need to work on changing display values on downloaded files.
My RPM adapter quit working. Was working fine and died. No light or anything. I tried to reset and recalibrate. As if it isnt there. It appears my setting was pretty close to begin with. Went for a drive with the LM1 in place. Looking forward to mapping a few enthusiastic runs. Thanks for the info guys. Kevin
