Strange noise when downshifting

I was out for a ride in my '79 930 yesterday and had a strange noise.

Downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, there was a squeeling noise in the (I think) right rear. It almost sounded like a belt slipping - but I am assuming it is a clutch noise. I sould not repeat it any other way than this downshift.

What is it?

Thanks,
Jeb

Likely a belt slipping (fan/alternator or A/C) due to the quickly increasing rev's. Check belt tension.
