Is the windshield washer switch a common point of failure on an 86 model?
My washer pump motor checks out ok but the switch on the column won't turn it on. Can the switch be checked or changed out without pulling the steering column? If so, how do I remove the plastic steering column cover over this switch? Thanks in advance..

Get 101 projects from our host - good info, and Bently manual.
You will need to remove the steering wheel to gain access to the switches. With about 6 small bolts/screws to remove. I am not sure if the washer switch is a common one to fail, but after 20 years - well I guess some will. Seams early with only 56k on your odometer. Maybe the PO used the washer more than average ![]()

What may have happened is the mechanism in the pump jammed from disuse. It happened to me, I gave the thing a whack, and it works again. I just try to remember to use it more frequently now.
