964 deck wiring and hinge questions
I will be starting the install of a 964 deck on my SC and have a few last-minute questions on wiring & hinge mounting. I have gathered all the parts and am in the process of getting the hinge mod done. I have done due diligence in researching threads, as shown here>>>>
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/Pel_Search.cgi?please_wait=N&forumid=8&threadid=&command=DWsearch&FORUM_REFER=8&FORUM_Search=forum&description=autoloc+&x=7&y=12&FILTER_911E=ON&FILTER_911M=ON&FILTER_911L=ON&FILTER_TECH=ON&FILTER_SUPP=ON&FILTER_ACCE=ON&FILTER_CARE=ON&FILTER_STUF=ON&FILTER_PERF=ON&FILTER_MISC=ON&FILTER_GADG=ON&FILTER_TOOL=ON My 1st question is on my SC hinge mount locations there was an oblong bolt that kept the bolt from spinning when the deck was lifted or shut. With the 946 hinges I will be using this oblong bolt will not work and the biggest bolt I can get through the 964 hinge mount will not fit tight enough in the body mount location to keep it from moving around with-in the mounting flange. If it is tighten to keep it in the desired location I suspect the lid will not open and close due to the pinching of hinge against mount. How did you guys that used 964 hinges keep the bolt in the correct spot in the mounting flange? Then on the wiring deal shown I have found that the “wing up/wing down” ground is shown as two brown wires. Is this ground accomplished by the single brown wire coming from the group of wires from the deck being grounded to the body? I have also declared which wires were for the 3rd brake light but have two additional wires coming from the motor wiring group. One is red and the other red and brown, would I be correct in my thinking that these are for the under hood light that the 964 was equipped with and not needed in my current effort? any insight is welcome

Bump for this thread. I just started the same project. I am still working on stripping the old paint etc. so I have not started installation and I don't have all the parts I need yet.

thanx you jester and mr. french for getting BA-BA black sheep back under the by-line...
got my hinges fabbed by getting some 1/2" square tubing to shim out the deck mounting flanges a bit like jack O's 964 units, but different. my welds suck and are not pretty as you may notice in the photo below, but they are mine and will be addressed.. i plan on grinding them down and cleaning them up wit another bead prior to final mounting and priming. the test fit went well and the purple on the c2 lid matches my favorite girl natasha's dress and all but the carerra script has provided comfort thus far. The oblong bolt still has me pondering, but i will get back to you cats on what i come up with. the wiring is next and i will keep jester posted as to what i find, as ive gone to the mountian and even widebody dont recall.
