Don,

As you tear into the front, let us know how much work would be required to convert to an IROC bumper/spoiler treatment. I'm guessing rear would be easier also. I'm thinking of going that route on a C4 some day. Thanks.

Cool car! Good luck and I like your innovative approach!
Will you be adding lumpier cams to the engine, too, a la RS / RSR themes of the past?
Thanks!
I haven't decided on what seats yet. The steering wheel will be replaced. We'll be taken out the rear seats. But we won't be putting anything back. Were also putting in a roll bar.
We won't be taking out the insulation.

I haven't decided on the engine stuff either.
But, I do know it will have a chip, Headers w/heat & Supertraps and a K&N type intake filter system. I have tough about putting in 993 cams a bit.

2600 is about it man! That black 964 that pictured is 2600 and its mostly fiberglass and is totally gutted.

Thanks man! The blue dose look great! But that red really jumps out at ya.
That green one looks better than I would have thought.

Lightbulb

We have now started on the front of the car.
Here is a few pictures that Jim Pasha took today.
The front has a lot more work involved.
In fact we may change the front fenders and start with the early ones.

Don,
Great work, but lots of it! My car had something similar done in metal (done by Axiom):

I'm sure there are plenty of ways to skin the cat! Hope this isn't taking away from your excellent thread. My car is an early car which was updated in the eighties and then I had it backdated.
It is going to be awesome, when you are done! Great project!

Is that a FG hood? TRE also makes or sells the longhood which latches to the shorthood bulkhead, which is a cool product for back-dating. Are you using that?

Doug

I didn't know Dave had such a hood.
It just goes to show (You learn something new every day).
I am using a steel hood.

Ha! Man you can get in on up date and back date threads.

Were working on it abit already.
The rear uses about the same type offset as a 930 turbo.
The fronts the rim will be about the depth half way between a 7 and 8. It ought to look OK!

Don,
Great looking car as always! I have got to make a road trip to your shop some day. What color white are you using for your cars? I am planning on painting mine up this winter. It is white with black graphics. I just can't decide which shade of white.

That is gonna be bad A$$. I almost bought a C4 that was turbo charged by a local shop. Incredible handeling characteristics but I wanted a long nose.

My question is How about stepping away from the overdone white/red? I know the history behind the porshce white prototypes and the historic value is cool for replicas but this aint a replica. Its gonna be a one of a kind. Justa thought.

They Man,
From what we have found it would be fairly easy to put a IROC bumper on a C2 or C4.

Talking New Up Date stuff.

Well we have abandon the idea of making the C4 front fenders work.
We have gone to a set of early set of fenders that we took off a 73 car were turning into a RSR. Now were putting the flares on them and doing the fab work on them were the the lights are to match the flare.
I think it is really cool that the early fender fit the C4. The bolts line right up.
We have cut off the rear flares and pressure washed the whole car. It is really going along quite nicely!
In the front we have had to angle in the oil cooler and AC condencer a little. But so far so good.
In the last pic it shows rust that all C2s & C4s are gona have.
This was a Texas car and the water gets in at the conjunction of the hood seal and the cowl seal and seeps down and starts to rust.
Here is some pics!

Yea! I was kinda surprised too. Especality because the fenders are so well sealed from the bottom with that rubber sealer.
These fenders are a real pain in the butt to get off. You have to cut all the sealer loose before you can even think about taking it off. Dan the guy that took these off said (Hell man they don't need any bolts). There on there!

Jim Pasha was in the other day taking pictures of the rust area.
So look for the rust warning in his TECH section in Excellence soon.

This is not necessarily happening with all of them just a lot of them. Of the 964s I've seen with this problem they have all had the front trunk seal replaced incorrectly and the install shop never bothers to prime or paint the area after ripping out the original seal. The rust then migrates everywhere...
