Sunday drive: Austin, TX fun run

If any of you want to join in the fun I am organizing a fun run this Sunday, 11/6/05. We will be going on a 3 hour drive and will arrive in New Bruanfels for lunch at Wurstfest. (www.wurstfest.com)

We plan to meet at 830 and drive at 9. Guaranteed good time for all. Come out and enjoy burning fossil Fuels follwed by Beer and Brats!

I wish Stinky were running. Good news is I think next week, I'll be switching schedules, so I'll have Saturday, Sunday and Mondays off. I'll be able to make some of the weekend drives.

If anyone in the area can make this drive, y'all should. It's fun trying to keep up with Jamie!

Would like to hear more about Austin Group as I might relocate there someday. Actually will be in Austin Fri-Mon. No car with me to make the event however. How many early P cars are around? What is the scence like there? How about local wrenchs? All that good stuff is a given here in SoCal.

Thanks

We have a good group of early cars. I helped found the TX Longhoods and we are a great DIY group. We organize for many Fun Runs through the fall, winter and spring. Not much in the summer since it is so hot. There are several great shops around but can be pricey. Not as many are familiar with the older cars.

The local PCA is quite active. They hve monthly social hours, a winter kart league (Starts tomorrow), Lots of track events from Feb through Dec. Jan. can be rainy so there are not as many events. They even organize a few regional events like Boxstoberfest. I really like it here.

btw, if you are in town and want to join in, send me a pm or email and let me know where you will be staying. I will pick you up and you can ride shotgun. There are always lots of passenger seats available. If you are traveling with a SO, they can come along too. I am sure your E would fit right in.

Boxster 03, I think you'd like the area. I went on one drive with the group in March, and had a blast, even though my clutch broke on me. I believe there were at least half a dozen Porsches... one guy showed up in a Ferrari! It was a great time. All of the guys I've met around here have been great and very helpful.

If you can, meet up with Jamie on Sunday. You'll have a great time, and get to see some of the area and meet a few of the local guys!

The drive was a lot of fun. We had our smallest outing yet. Only 4 cars for the drive. Didn't matter as we bombed the backroads in the Hill Country for more than 3 hours. I think we put more than 350 km on the car. Here are a few shots.

Looking across from Devil's backbone.

Nameless backroad somewhere West of Austin.

Another backroad Somewhere South of Canyon Lake

River Road

River crossing

Arrival at our destination

Final destination

Ahh yes! The beer tent.

Looks like it was a blast!! The weather was great this past weekend... perfect for a cruise. I just wish Stinky were driveable. I probably would have called in to work, told them I'd be late... hehe
