Color Code Starkey´s Book

How can I decipher the color code in Starkey´s book
Porsche 911 R-RS-RSR.
The color code for the 1973 RS 2.7 Individual Chassis Record.
The code consists of a 6 digit number.
e.g. 999912, 525213, 220111, 222511

Thanks for your help.

The first 4 digits are the paint code and the final 2 digits are for the interior material. The explanation of those codes are in the Carrera RS book, which is at home (where I am not). I would be happy to give those to you later this evening.

The factory wasn't using four-digit paint codes in 1972 thru 76, unless a customer specified a unique '64 thru '71 paint code!!!

Warren,

That is correct. The RS book though has a chart on page 122 that lists the color name, corresponding 4 digit color code and 3 digit paint code, the paint manufacturer, and if that particular color was series or special order. It is interesting that Grand Prix white by itself and all three GP white combinations are all paint code 908. They each have unique 4 digit color codes though.

Starkey's book lists the chassis # with engine and transmission # along with the 4 digit color code combined with the 2 digit interior code with no explanation. The Carrera RS shows the following: LT is leatherette

11 LT seats with LT perforated middle strip

12 LT seats with Corduroy middle strip (only M472)

13 LT seats with Hound's tooth middle strip (only M472)

16 Leather seats with leather middle strip (only M472)

17 Leather seats with Corduroy middle strip (only M472)

18 Leather seats with Hound's tooth middle strip (only M472)

99 Special order

Hi Don,

This book has been around for awhile but is a must have IMHO if you are into the early 911s. Here is link to the contents. Look around on eBay for used ones.

What color codes would like to know about?
