installing rotors

Am installing new cross drilled rotors this evening on my 84 Carrera. My question - is there anything I should do to the existing pads to help them adapt to the new rotors? Pads are Hawk blacks.

I usaually take a file to the edges at a 45 degree angle and take a little material off. That way, when bedding them in, the center of the pads hits the disc first and wears outwards on the pad as they bed in.

Just my 02 cents
