Country Codes

I have a 1972 2.4E and it has the original country code 112
Does anyone know what country this is?

Many Thanks

what do you mean with country code?

if never heard of any specific country code beeing stamped on 911's in those days, the VIN mentioned Calif , US or ROW , rest of the world... at least as far as i know...

a VIN for a 72 would look like this :

911 - 2 - x - x - xxxx

911 - year - type - model - serial

the only other source for country , as far as i know, would be the factory archives, but i think those list the actual country it was built for...

There might be a Dealer code. I think that would be a separate 3 digit code.

No it is the country code on the spec sheet that you can get from your countries Porsche head office. It is the original country that the car was delivered to.

e.g.

119 is spain
113 is canada

not sure which country 112 is?

http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp

this website gives most of them but does not have 112, anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

This table of country codes is from the Carrera RS book. It may only pertain to the '73 RS but I doubt it. According to this it would be a German delivered car.

This is a copy of the production/conversion order for my RS. You can see it was delivered to SZ, which is Switzerland, on the right hand page at the top and bottom of the page (is followed by the # of the dealer there which was in Basil).
