Let's try this agian: Just added some nice upgrades to my Targa...OMG

Second attempt. Moderators please delete the two broken threads of same title, thanks!

--Bill

Here we go:

Just added:

Competed at John Walkers:

Bilstein sports all the way around
Rennline triangulated strut brace
Turbo tie rods
Fabspeed Euro-Pre muffler,
Fabspeed single out SS exhaust
Magnecor wires

Completed at Speedware:

Corner balanced
Aligned
Passport 8500 radar detector

Speedware was unable to lower the car any further with out more in-depth work. I will save that for when I upgrade the torsion bars.

So the car now sounds like a true German sport/muscle car should...evil; I'll prolbably add the dual out for the sound of pure evil (I was worried starting with dual out would be too loud). The Fabspeed has a very rich low note, no hollow sounds. The muffler itself was a tank. The package when it arrived was 45 lbs for the whole setup. You can nock on the muffler and it just thumps like hitting a solid piece of metal. I can’t hear any resonance ringing.

While driving in lower RPM's the car sounds civilized but with a deeper richer tone, then when you get on her in the upper RPM bands she literally roars to life like an un-caged beast. It’s very clean and not raspy or tinny at all. I do get some back pops when I rev it up and down however. I plan on getting a Steve Wong chip, so maybe the re-mapping with help out on that a bit.

She now handles like I thought my Porsche was supposed too. I secretly was unhappy with how her handling felt before. The car now feels firmly planted to the ground and hugs every line, crack and divot on the road as she rolls along. It's a controlled feel like thumping a thick piece of firm rubber. The Targa no longer shudders going over bumps and pot holes, she just rides it out as says give me more.

The steering response is now tighter and accurate, less mushy. There is still room for improvement but it's like getting a new car and then saying how can I make an already new car better. I see torsion bars and new bushings in my future but I will spend some time getting used to her new pleasant feel.

Now all I need to do is get her Wongified to bring some more ponies to the chase and smooth out the acceleration.

There is snow in the hills... yeah! I snowboard and was jipped last year!! I just scheduled 5 days off next month with snow in mind.

The magnacores look nice, not sure if i can tell a difference just yet, but the car had the OEM's on it with 127,000 miles. i was going to go Clewitt but with all the water controversy and living in Seattle...

Bill, you live in the PNWet, it'll never be that clean again.

Glad to hear your happy with the results. I was a little concerned when I heard you spun it leaving John's shop at a very low speed. Something had to be up. Good to see you were able to retain your factory heat cross over pipe...running w/out heat for a winter or two just plain sucked.

Get some 7's and 9's w/ good tires and that "stuck" feeling will go up a bunch!

Are you planning on meeting the rest of us Northenders at my place for the run down to the Salish Lodge next month?

Yep the meet up is the plan. I will meeet Ross in LS like usuall.

I noticed that there was some moist looking spots on the shop floor as most shops do. Also that day it had just started raining so I bet it was just bad luck with fresh rain and fresh oily compound on my tread.

17" inch wheels are my next big upgrade, probably in the spring.
