Are you changing the lower A-arms, too? OR going with a 935 style?

GREAT JOB and GREAT update!

Adjustability is not yet resolved but I would like to have fix upper shock mount and adjust Camber by adjustable-length RSR-style V-arms (instead of original A-arms).

Original A-arms have been cut-and-pasted so many times that I see them as somewhat unsafe. Lobbying for RSR-arms.

Ello!

Sorry for not updating for a while. I was sick and everybody had too much to do. Progress was somewhat slow and it's boring to look at pictures that differ just slightly from previous ones.

A few new pics:

This is the structure that is going to shield engine from behind:

Spacers for rear wheels (let's just hope those bearings will survive, this wasn't my idea)

Coupe was sand-blasted, cage painted and underside of body covered with thick black sealing paint. Rear suspension was final-installed by yours truly with help of Niklas.

This is how engine fits:

Other things that happened:

OEM position of driver seat is sub-optimal, so piece of transmission tunnel and bottom plate under the seat was cut out in order to move seat an inch or so to the middle. This way we acheved fully optimal position of driver, directly in centre of steering wheel. Rear wing/body was also made from fibreglass.

Old pic:

There have been lot's of problems with fabricating throttle actuating mechanism that would keep dual throttles synchronized.

No pictures of those things yet.

Looking good! AWESOME! Those rear spacers are BIG, no doubt.
Are you building a bulk-head at the front strut towers? Is that what is taped in there to the front strut brace?

Dumb question, but what black paint did you use?

Yupp. Actually, it's pieces of carbon-fibre that are taped to already welded sheet-metal (just for bling-bling). It was necesarry in order to divide trunk to front (fuel-cell etc) and rear (oil-tank, steering, brake reservoirs etc) buk head. Should fuel tank rupture, it's good to have that area divided from rest of trunk and coupé.

Dunno, gotta ask Tokan who is in charge of everything body-related. It's plain-Jane black body paint:

All I can say is "Wow!" Goran.

Silly question:
If one was running 3pc wheels like you have in the picture, could you unbolt the rim halves, flip the center section and bolt the wheel back together to reduce the size/weight of the wheel spacer? In other words, use the existing wheel components to create a "deep dish" wheel?

Well I guess it's possible but Jocke's 3-piece wheels have positive ET so in best case it would make things worse, moving wheels even further from hub.

With other words, we would loose the spacer (good), make rear even wider (bad) and load bearings even more (bad).

As long as imaginary center of wheel goes trough middle of the bearing, it doesn't matter how thick spacer you got.

We had some design considerations to attend among other things so wheels got spaced out. My vote was to keep the car narrow-hipped (as much as widened 930 can be) in order to keep aerodynamic drag and bearing load to minimum but I got voted down. It's a show-car, you know. Kids must say oooh and aaah and stuff. I'm not much for show but I'm not running it either

In hindsight, widening wasn't such a bad idea after all as it makes place for new plenums, air-intakes for turbos, brake-cooling scoops etc.

Backman looks so proud!

Goran, looking real good bud. That is some MEAT on those tires...but it is only matching that beast of a motor. Nice work.

Pictures from the shop. I wasn't there during the week, just relaying what guys did. I'll try to do some work tomorrow though.

Trunk is clothed and oil-lines drawn (not sure if I like return hose to oil tank pre-warming brake fluid reservoirs, I'll try to change that):

Interior is being clothed:

The car right now:

Door panels are being covered by small synthetic fibers. Dunno what it's called in english. We call it "flocking".

Car rolls on it's own wheels for firs time this year:

Heat insulation for engine-bay (what's left of it) and oil-tank up front:

Coupe starts to look like something:

By the way, car is painted champagne-metallic. Ignore the tires, they are only there so we can roll the car. They might come to use some day on the strip though

New product idea? A carbon fibre bra:

Jürgen, our engnine managment wizard, is connecting the oil-lines:

Time for a lunch:

Time to install the instruments (no, they aren't original ):

Everyone is busy:

I got to do thing I hate the most: cleaning and re-packing CV-joints Luckily, CV-joints actually belong to excavating equipment and are quite easy to disasemble and repack. Shafts are custom made from spring-steel.

Rear wing is mounted, Tokan is going to apply putty, polish it up and re-paint.

Pedals are slightly re-done with adjustable brake bias and hydraulic clutch:

Instrument panel is sawed up to accept new instruments with dash-logger etc. Made by Andreas:

Torbjörn (who is actually a race-engineer) is doing last fibre-glass sheet reinforcements on front hood.

Clear explanation to a welder about where to weld wastegate openings (translation: Here - Not here):

Rims (no pun intended) are polished into bling-bling shine:

There are only four days left before car exibition and car should be fully driveable before that, so expect lot's of updates in following few days!

Work is now being done almost around the clock, Many workers are actually volunteers from Zatzy.com, biggest Swedish car forum.
