Taillight not working

I just picked up my car from the bodyshop (accident repair)
I noticed when I armed my alarm this morning my
drivers side tail light was not lighting. I can't
check the brake light but based on the reflection it
appears to be working. The turn signal also works.
Does anyone know if the plug for the tail light is a
single unit? Maybe the bodyshop didn't get the second
plug connected. I can't work on this till I get home.
Any help?

My guess is the wires leading into the tail light housing were damaged in the accident. I would look at the wiring behind the taillight looking for a damaged/exposed wire. Also follow the wires as they come out of the housing and trace them as far as you can, the damage may not be right at the light housing.

I couldn't stand it anymore so I took a "break" from work
to look at the taillight wiring. Luckily I had a
phillips head screwdriver in the glove box.

There are to sets of wires behind the housing. One
plugs directly into the housing the other is a group
of two wires ending in an eyelet that is in turned
secured to a bolt to the body. The one of the drivers
side is broken and thus not connected to anything
secure. Now I hope by replacing the eyelet I will fix
my short.
Does that sound like my problem?

Have you got the correct 'twin element' bulb in there?

Do the number plate lamps work? I think they're on the same circuit and the so fault could also be there.

Edit: I could be wrong, my 84 is different seperate fuse for license plate. Doh.

Actually the license plate bulb are on another circuit. I know as I use the fuse from that circuit to test the taillight circuit. So now both don't work (Till I get new fuses that is).

Yea I have the correct bulbs (7528).

So hope fully is i connect the ground wires (i think that is what they are) if will fix my short.
