One more twin plug question.....

Just trying to understand why 12 points are needed for a twin-plug dizzy. If the plugs are fired nearly simulataneously (a recent thread discussed this i think) for each indivdual cylinder for efficient combustion burn, why can't you run two wires (a split wire set-up or something) from the same point? Probably a dumb question, but i couldn't find the answer from past threads. TIA

It's not a stupid question. The reason you can't run two wires is that electricity will always follow the path of least resistance. Only one of the spark plugs would fire if you used some sort of "Y" connection.

That is why many argue that Split Fire plugs may help fouling, but can't make more power.

The multi point plugs only have one spark path (at a time) but as the resistance of the current path increases the path switches to another prong. Bosch has something similar also. The SplitFires are just plain junk (crappy insulator, etc).
