DME adapter allows o2 sensor removal

l read about this harness that allows the motronic to work well without the o2 sensor.l think it`s made for countries where the fuel type requires the removal of the cat.Anyhow l bought one to try it years ago and just dug it up.The harness gets installed just before the altitude device under the drivers seat

Thanks racemen, can you let me know how well it works? What AFR does the car end up with, provided you're running the stock ship?

The ROW adapter here only works on Euro/ROW 87-89 Carreras with a European chip with three maps contained within. The adapter is nothing more than a couple of resistors, and combined with plugging or unplugging the two brown pin 10 wires, is used to select between each of the three map combinations. The three maps are 1) catalyst/O2 sensor equipped motor 2) standard Euro 3.2 930/20 and 3) Euro 3.2 with air pump as supplied to a country such as Sweden. Since the fuel and ignition maps between a U.S. and Euro car are almost identical, running a European map with a U.S. motor would not increase the power any. The main difference in Euro mapping is additional fuel in low part throttle to make up for the reduced backpressure of running without a cat. On a U.S. car, this adapter would basically not accomplish anything.

What would it accomplish on an Australian delivered car?

I've been running without an O2 sensor for years. OK, the idle and part throttle is obviously richer than with an O2 sensor hooked up, but what does this adapter do? What A/F ratio does it force the idle/part throttle to be at?

It depends on if your car is a 930/25 (U.S. catalyist/O2 car) or a Euro 930/20. It really does nothing for a 930/25, but is used on the Euros to select one of two Euro maps depending on emissions equipent supplied on the motor. If it has an air pump, the low part throttle fuel maps are modified slightly richer just off idle, with the low part throttle ignition map retarded. It is not intended for improving or decreasing performance so basically I would forget thinking about it.
