Turbo 3.6 engine drop question...
I am in the process of dropping the engine on my '94 Turbo 3.6 to perform routine maintenance and potentially also freshen up the tranny. My question: how do I disconnect the power steering lines? Do I have to drain the system first and if I do that what process do I need to go through to reconnect the lines when I put the engine back in? Will I have to do some sort of bleeding of the system? Is it possible to just disconnect the pump and not drain any fluid? Or is the plan to disconnect the hoses in a "quick change" way so as not to lose much fluid at which point I will simply top off later.
Any thoughts would be helpful. If it isn't obvious, this is my first time dropping the engine... ![]() |

You might try the Rennlist forums, if all else fails. There is a forum for the 964 turbo and for the 964. Which should connect you with some others in the know.

you disconnect the lines on the Pump , when you loose the clamp on the upper line the oil will run out the Glasstanl , therefore you better empty it first with a vacuum pump , or you try to put a little (about 1/2 pint ) bowl bside the PS-pump . the 2 lines stay in the car . when you put the engine back in , you connect the lines to the pump fill the glastank with fluid , then you turn the steeringwheel slowly to the left and then to the right ,it will bleed itself , top off the fluid , repeat . Thats it .
