more backdate and rust repair progress.

GALLERY HERE

So, I don't know where to stop - first I strip built up layers of paint, discover rust - chase rust, remove bodywork - modify bodywork (sunroof), etc., etc.

This thing was supposed to go to paint in the morning, with rollbar and RSR bracing, front and rear. Looks like it will be late...

Comments? Moral support?

Quite a bit of work. Nice job so far.

This is a '72 losing its oil filler door? If I am not mistaken, the oil filler in the '72 made one of the best f/r balanced early cars. I am confused unless I wasn't looking at the pic correctly????

Joe is correct - there are 2 cars, a '77 C3 which is being backdated, using a rotten '72 as a donor car. I am in love with the '72 stuff, so I transplanted the entire oil system before I got into the rest of it!

Then I grafted in the proper nose panel to accept the early hood, and started on rust repair on the '77.

Somewhere along the way, I decided to shed the sunroof weight and gutted it, welding it in solid - will put up pictures of that soon.

I'm assembling the final product as a Slate gray '72 with rear flares and incorrect glove box door release (I think).

The motor is a 3.2 - I may turbo charge that after I put some miles on this thing.

I've been drilling spot welds for a while now on this car! Boy o boy.

Keith - do you have any weights on the sunroof components?

well, I confess, it's easier when you have a shop at your evening disposal, that's certain.
