Wheel clearance Q--Is this enough?
Here is a pic of my 17" Fuch replica on my car with 1" spacers. Is this enough clearance between the tire and the spring plate nut? I measure 7/32" clearance. Im worried about tire flex on track days. How much space would you recommend? Can I grind down this nut/bolt? How much? Thanks.

That's fine Jon. The tire flex is closer to the contact patch...not near the spring plate.
If you are worried..you can grind down the nuts and bolt...others have done it. Just don't take too much off..setting/holding your alignment will be a pain later. |

Jon,
I would be more concerned about the flames your 3.6 was throwing out the exhaust tonight. Thanks for allowing me to participate in the test beating! ![]() P.S. can I borrow your car this spring - I have a hot date in Topeka.

I have about the same amount of clearance on mine and no issues after many DE days. As said before the tire squirm you will get will be the contact patch as you stress the tires sidewall.

That's a ton of room. You can barely see daylight with my setup. After an Auto-X you can dust off a light circle around the inside of the tire where it has "hazed" the shaved nut during hard cornering. The suspension does move around a few MMs during such events.
