Minnesota Engine Drop Get Together
We are in the dead of winter and I decided to drop the engine for a major tuneup and cleanup. While the drop is not at all necessary, I am looking forward to doing it again.
I will host a little get together and you can participate, watch or just eat the food and drink the beer and chat with other pelicans. I enjoyed my last drop get together and look forward to this one. Unfortunately, the notice is short. I will be dropping Saturday 1/7/06 at 10:00 am. The garage is heated and all the prep work will be completed beforehand. The get together shouldn't last longer than 2-3 hours so it won't waste your whole day but will be nice to see everyone. If you are interested, PM me and I will respond with directions.

Rick,
I really need to get to one of these as I would like to do one myself..........but, I will be out of town. What type of lift are you using to lower the motor out with? I was looking to get a motorcycle/ RV lift but not sure how well it would work on my snowmobile. Looking at snowmobile lifts but not sure if it will work for the 911. Like to buy just one to do the sled and 911 but not sure if it is possible. Thanks for the invite though! Joe |

I use a motorcycle jack with a beefed up furniture dolly for the engine. I use a long tonge jack to lift the car and roll the engine out. It works great... I will let you know when it goes back in, hopefully you can make it then to see...

Maybe when you get ready to put it back in I will have the the day off if the invite is still open.

Rick, Will look forward to it if I'm lucky enough to have day off when you put the engine back in. Hope you have a great turn out for the drop. If you would like a little newbie help in prep for the actual day of drop, I might have an evening free to learn.
Chuck

To the lurkers here, you owe it to your Porsche and self to attend one of these. It really helps with your fear of the car, and do not forget those $$ you can save by doing some projects yourself.
I had a blast last year when Brother did his. Even if your a klutz, there is something you can do/ help with or hold, and you will understand how the parts relate/ connect better. The plus side, that when you go for it ..there are others who will come to your aid in return. You may disagree on the OT side, but during the drop you make friends that you can call when yours acts up, or fails to act at all. Rika |

Chuck: Prep is already completed. I did that last Sunday. I was almost going to drop it then but I wanted to host a little dropping party because the first one was very enjoyable.
Phat: Directions sent. Rikao4: You are absolutely spot on in your previous post. Tally so far: 1 - for sure 2 - maybe 1 - not likely but not entirely ruled out

Rick,
Count me in. I might have a california Pelican with me. PM me your address. Agreed that last one was fun. Just don't ask me how my rebuild is going. Mike

Perfect...
Is your buddy the same one that you brought last time? I promise not to ask about your rebuild progress. After all, you are only a couple of years into it... lol... patience is, well, waiting a long time...

I look forward to meeting you Ron.... I must reiterate that we are in the dead of winter in the upper north so be prepared for the cold if you haven't truely experienced it before... If you have, never mind...
Having just returned from a two week vacation in Hawaii, I welcome the cold. I don't want to see the sun for a while... I can only take so much of the intense heat. Maybe because I was born and raised in the ice cube of the world... It is what it is.... heh

Rick,
I'm here in Bloomington now, and yes, I've been here before. And yes, it was January that time too. I like someone is trying to tell me something.
