I know the purists hate anything that changes a regular 911's looks but for me, the slant nose look always seemed to compliment the 911 very well.
I just purchased my 1980 slant and absolutely love the car's looks (have ever since I saw one with the most gorgeous blonde behind the wheel at a night club in Southbeach Miami, so many years ago).

Everyone has different tastes, isn't that what makes the automotive world go round?

BTW, there is some good info about the body modifications to make a Slantnose at the 930s.com site here: http://930s.com/service.htm.

Click the items under Service Information and Service Manual Parts for an idea of the complexity of a change like this.

Oh god, pslantnose, you HAVE to bring up the blonde, Southbeach, nightclubs, many years ago, etc. Sheeeeeee, were trying to get away from that image, you know, gold chains, Tubbs, Crocket. Im not sure if I ever saw a slantnose on Miami Vise. I did see a 365 Ferrari GTB, sort of, but now the real ones dont have any baggage with them from that era. Oh well, that's what makes the world go around. I have to go now, some friends of mine are arriving from Columbia, South America, with some, eh, rare items.

As an offshore boat mechanic for many years, I did a few years in the Miam/Lauderdale area.
Lemme tell ya guys, the show was very close to reality in many aspects.

A Porsche 911 with or without a slant nose is still a 911.Go with the one you like...for you.

Living on Key Biscayne for a few years really brought that image to mind. You're right, the things I saw and the people who were around were right on with the image. I dont mind the old midwest now, god, that was so fake.

KNOWBODY brought up MULLETS!

JBO 01-06-2006 06:39 AM

Slant drivers never had mullets....that was/is the Corvette/Camaro/Trans Am drivers...slant drivers of the day were hip entertainers or athletes (or drug dealers), they were never red necks :)
