Real Simple Question on '76S - 2.7 Badge or Not?
A minor issue - Did my 76S come with a 2.7 badge on the grill or not?
I thought if they were installed at the factory they used little pins with keepers on the back- isn't that what they did on all the early cars with the metal grilles? I see that Pelican sells them but with adhesive on the back.

" One ping......one ping only..."
No one knows if the 2.7 badge came on the car or not? Anyone have an old magazine advertisement showing the rear of the mid year cars that would show if they had the badges or not?

The hunt for Red October?
Don't think my 77 came with one... the 76 EU Carrera didn't either. Both have a plastic grille, so I think if the grille is plastic it will not have had one (but not sure on this).

I've heard that the 2.4 was the last badge Porsche made. There's a maker of 2.7, 2.9, 3.0, etc. badges in Chico. I forget his name, but do a search. He'd know for sure.

Since Pelican is selling these badges I had assumed they must have been original eguipment on some year.

Okay well.... hell then, I don't know if my car is supposed to have it or not? Guess I'll check out as many cars as I can at the former Dunkel's show in Feb and see if I can figure it out. Thanks everyone.

My original, black plastic '76 grill has no 2.7 badge.

Metal grill on my 74' and it came with the 2.7 badge. Not sure what the PO had to do with this, but I bet it came from the factory that way.

I don't thinkmy 76 911S had a badge for the 2.7 I can check later tonight. I am pretty sure that it had a 911S badge on it though below the grill.

I found a picture of the engine lid as it came off of the car. No 2.7 badge but it does have the 911S badge. At least I know my head is still working.

Thanks guys, especially Rich because you answered another of my questions: The silver "911S" badge.
When my car came out of the paint shop like that I thought maybe the painter had made a mistake by painting the badge silver. He said he hadn't painted it, he'd just cleaned it up and it was silver like that below the filth. I thought that sounded funny, but I left thiking it looked pretty good, and was more or less consistent with my car because it is the last year with bright trim around the windows....even if it is a little inconsistent with the black grill.

This is an easy one Dan.
No 2.7 badge after 1974. All the (more detailed) 911 books cover that factoid. ...of course I've always held the belief that 911s are a lot like Harleys...just blank canvases to add the owners personal touches throughout. I'm not talking about running it through the car wash gift shop and trashing it up, just doing whatever suits you since originality (especially on our mid-years) isn't fingers and toes. They are all so different in terms of trim and bits that who really knows if this should be black or that should be silver. I would add the 2.7 badge if I thought it looked good on my black plastic.
