Matteo, I have the same oil cooling solution on my 930. The main differences are on mine, the box on the inside of the trunk seems to be a little bit larger (more square and longer) and I use two hoses (instead of four) of a larger diameter. That along with a fairly powerful fan never have given me any temperature problems even while sitting in traffic here in Las Vegas

what cooler are u using? what dimensions? How did u mount the fans? We'll use a 911 fuel safe cell (which is smaller than the one in the pic) so I think I will be able to get away with four ducts... |

I'm a big fan of the cooling the PO installed in the 930:
2 of these, one in each fender: ![]() One of these in the nose: ![]() Zero oil temp issues.

Nice... so what do u have in the middle?
Also I had problem in clearing the stock carrera cooler in the fender with my right tire (275/40-17). What tires are u using upfront? Did the PO fab special mountings for the cooler? |

I dont exactly recall - something RUF sized - Setrab maybe? Just a guess.
I am also using 275/17s up front, no cooler clearance issues. It's all custom up front as far as I know. They did a great job.

With the front cooling set-up you show, there should be no reason to vent the hood or fenders. Just make sure that you select a fuel cell that allows enough room for the vent hoses. With the special Fuel Safe cell I used in my RSR, there is no room for the vent hoses to the wheel wells. ![]()

Tom is yours the 17 gallon one or the 27?
Mine looks very much like yours. I went for the 17. Not running the 24h of Daytona anytime soon ![]() I hope to have enough room for the hoses.... |

Mine is the 17 gal cell. Make sure you fit the cell before making final decisions about venting to the wheel wells. I think you need to enter the wheel wells in the area where the battery boxes were located on the early cars. If you'd like a better shots of my fuel install, let me know and I'll post some new pics.

OK...Here's some pics of the 17 Gal Fuel Safe in my '73 RSR Clone.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not a lot of room for venting to the wheel wells. I decided to go the RSR factory route and use the RSR relief panel to vent the cooler exhaust under the car. ![]() ![]() ![]() So far...So good. I'm running a 3.0 RSR spec twin plug with 285 RWHP. I've never seen oil temps go above 180 deg. Next weekend at Watkins Glen will be a good test of the the cooling system.

Tom it's always great to see pics of your car. You can see how every little detail has been thought through properly....
I have the same exact fuel cell as yours. I have noticed though how the tubs differ in the front section. It seems like we might have just enough room. Keith here is the expert. BTW what cooler are you using? |

Thanks for the compliments on my RSR project. My cooler is a Setrab 150 that I bought from Chuck at Elephant Racing. We are all enjoying the updates on your build. Keep up the pics and progress. We look forward to them.

Some work needed to be done to fix the sheet metal in the engine compartment on the right hand side...
So Keith thought it would be a good idea to move the oil tank fwd in front of the rear axle (ala 993). Some pics of the job... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
