Teo,
You are my hero
Congratulations!

I've wanting a GT for a while, but I've been prioritizing the house, kitchen, etc., etc. My wife is very happy with the decisions. One day, I'll have GT, too. I won't get one, though, until my retirement is locked in. Probalby many years from now.

Doug

I am a sport cars enthusiast that just happens to love Porsche because of their daily driving abilities and the fact that in the used market there are more accessible, financially, than other exotics. I love all type of sports cars and will hope to have the financial means to own and experience a few during my lifetime.

You will not believe the narrow-minded people that are comfortable in their cocoon and will bash, flame, criticized other brands simply because it is not a Porsche or "insert your obsess by brand here" .

I look forward to owning a Ford GT just as much as a Lamborghini, or a Corvette Z06, and a 997 GT3RS…or one of those replica C-type Jaguars… it is all about the emotion that those cars generate in me. In the case of the Ford GT you can’t find that many cars that look that unique. Just getting close to one and looking at the work done, the exposed frame, braces, that engine sitting right behind you, the details of the door with the roof cut out… it is a thing of beauty.

Congratulations Matteo! Wow! Great car...what a stable you're going to have! I saw a Top Gear clip where Jeremy Clarkson was testing an uprated version of the GT...I think it was called the GTX. He said it was even more astonishing than the "normal" GT. I wonder if they ever came to market since I've never seen anything about them before or since.

A Ford GT was at a track day last year - I got in for a ride, got out when done w/o helmet on......and smacked my head on the horizontal roof surface of the door so hard I just about blacked out.....

awesome project
the attention to detail is what really sets this car apart
if you have any more info on how the rear shock towers were reinforced that would be great
also those throttle bodies are sweet
thanks

John

the rear shock towers were reinforced using the original RSR as an inspiration.
Basically Keith welded some strengthening plates on the inside of the shock tower mounts, some triangular brackets on the outside and then welded the top of the towers together with a brace.

I will take more detailed pictures next time.

The GT was brand new to the guy - he hired an insructor to learn to drive on the track.
When he laid into it on the straight, it was QUICK.
I believe it would pull away from my car above 120 or so - A Z06 is just a hair quicker than the GT, and the Z06 is a hair quicker accelerating than my 930 - so I think they would be just about equal.

I work in the financial mkts... hedge fund manager.
Cars are my only "vice". I don't play golf, I don't gamble, I don't collect wine, I don't have a mistress etc.

I am fortunate that rigth now I can afford these. But life can change quickly (5 yrs ago we were struggling to pay rent as we invested everything into launching the hedge fund) so...

Money has not changed me... and if it goes away it will be fine. I have a wonderful wife and 2 beautiful girls... We are all healthy, the rest is really superflous.

FWIW the GT was 1 sec quicker than the Z06 around the ring (7m42s vs 7m43s). But the GT is definetly set up for the street.

I wish the GT had the Z06 engine as I am not a huge fan of forced induction... However there is little argument against the huge amount of torque that is avalaible from 2k rpm... it makes it for a fun ride...

But enough on the GT.. I will start a thread in OT with pics and driving impressions.

Also I want to take it to CMP to compare the lap times between the Ford and the 911 with me behind the wheels....

You're a wise man Matteo! Most people don't handle success with nearly as much perspective as you.

the ford gt is the modern gt 40..

its faster
better sounding
more reliable
more comfortable
and better on gas

i understand the gt40 from the 60's has got its thing going for it....but for a car thats almost the same you pay less and get everything other then the quirks...
