Once you have your test cert and your customs receipt to say it has had all duties paid (nil in your case - hooray) then you just send the papers off, they write to you a few days later to say you forgot to dot an i or else they give you your UK registration, get the plates made up online somewhere they don't need to see your reg papers and you are done. You are gonna need UK-dipping headlights, converters should let you pass the test and then change them later in the year. Also for future tests you will a front plate so what do you fancy? Sticky across the front? It has plenty of precedent: ![]() We have a few testers on IB.com so getting an MOT is no problem, though anyone near you with any sense will be able to do it for you also.

I was thinking sticky across the bonnet.... not to ruin the graphic on the bumper...
Good news abt not needing the SVA. I suppose that is also true for the 993. So I guess I will just buy some stickers to cover the headlamps, right? I took the GT to Roush and they guarantee the SVA test pass but have not touched the headlamps.... |

I guess John meant that they should "dip" to the right rather than to the left because in the UK you drive on the left side of the road.
It might be that I will need to get the "right" dipping headlights once I get here... I might be able to pass with stickers only on the headlamps because the car is more than 30yrs old.... |

Yes, the lights dip the other way - so low beam is 'cut off' on the right side. You might get away with just switching lenses for RHD, they are really cheap so no probs.
I agree sticky on the bonnet would be cool. I am just going to run a little plate on the front of mine in between tests, and whack a big plate on there once a year. There is a law here which says you do not have to conform to the rules on plate size if the car is an import and manufactured in such a way as to prevent a big plate. I have the oil cooler intakes where the plate would normally be on a regular C3, so I think I could spiel my way out of a problem. If not then will cross that bridge as and when, might go for the bonnet sticky also.

Bob - I think that has a different connotation in England.

They are all part of the red tape procedures that you have to undergo in the UK to register a car.
SVA= Single Vehicle Approval MOT = Minister of Transport DVLA = Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency |

Sorry Ros, Teo has covered it but basically the SVA is a test imported cars under 10 years old do on entry to the UK, to make sure they conform to UK lighting and build regs. The MOT is a condition/safety/emissions inspection all cars over three years here do annually and the DVLA is the UK's DMV. The DVLA service the whole country from one HQ with local offices here and there.

Blue 993 mirrors would be my choice, but if ya want 70s.

think i'm starting to see some consistancy with the black brezels, black trim, black side view mirros, black wheels, black script.
i believe this calls for the retraction of my previous statement that i'd prefer colour matched light brezels... this looks nice, very very nice!
