Thumbs up Found 67 911 Project Update

It's time to start getting ready for paint. Yesterday I started to pull all the exterior items off including windows. I completed that entire exterior strip down in 7 hours. It will take me another 12 hours to install it back once painted...don't want any scratches. I will start pulling out all of the interior, doors, hood and engine this weekend. I will be stripping the car down to bare metal and repairing surface rust. After using acids to condition the metal I will apply two coats of epoxy primer and start the metal and bondo work. Will apply a two part urathane primer surfacer and block for days until every panel is straight and no waves are found. Will also be stripping the entire bottom and top side of the floor pan and under side of fender wells, engine compartment, and inside of hood compartment. Prior to painting will apply two coats of a two part urathane sealer and top coated using a two stage base coat clear coat system and buffing to a mirror finish. The color? Still don't no guys! Dalmatian Blue is a favorite thus far. Any suggestions are always invited. Will continue to keep you posted on the progress. Regards, Freddie

Cool! Glad to see you're keeping us up to speed on this interesting project. Didn't you pick this baby up for a few grand or something ridiculous? What's the original color? I'd keep it original.

For those who don't know...this is a numbers matching '67 911S he found in a repo lot. I love stories like this.

Hey Jay, it's coming along just fine. So much fun doing this work. Yes I picked up the car for $4,500. The original color is Ivory White. I really do like this color it's so elegant and show very well.

Wow Freddie, my project is nothing compared to what you are engaged in with this 67S. It will be interesting to see the final results. Thanks for providing the recipe for an amazing restoration.

I will keep you posted on the progress. I also plan to post some stripping, bondo, primer, painting, and buffing techniques with the hope that others may pick up some pointers.

Carl, post some pictures of your project would love to see it.

Tom, the pictures will be coming later. Look out for thread titles Found 67 911 Project Updates.

Conrpanzer, how could I not restore this car it's a car I have been chasing for several years now.

It looks a lot different than it did two weeks ago! Good work. How much more rust did you find under the seals? In my opinion, a yellow/tangerine color would look awesome, but I'd probably stick with the original Ivory White. Some sport/rally lights would look great on the hood. Keep up the great work!

Matt

Matt, I only found the rust you saw that day. I have some welding to do. Yellow/Tangerine huh? Those are such great colors.
