To flare or not to flare..GT2
In your humble and appreciated opinions.....do you think GT2 flares are too much on a street car or not. I'm contemplating adding them but sticking with the standard twin turbo rear wing.
For your reference a beautiful GT2 pic. ![]() And a black one... ![]()

The 2nd picture of the blue one looks pretty cool.
IMO it might be a little too much for the street then again with a turbo wing it might not be too bad.

IMO they can look good if you have the "go" to back up their "show." Do you really need more tire? 993's are beautiful creatures when plain stock, and I think unless you need the larger or lighter flares, they detract from the style.

If your wheels are wide enough to fill them, then yep you need them...

Okay for a track car, too much for a street car, ricey. I wouldn't drive any of those, pictured P-Cars, on the street.

If they weren't take offs / bolted, I'd feel better about them for the street. They are certainly functional for the track, but look hacked for a street car.

I would if I can have body work (bondo and paint). I would not bolts or rivets.

Wonder how smooth the lines would be when you permanently attach and paint. I looked at the pictures again hard and I have to say that I'd spend my money elsewhere (power, handling), unless I needed the rubber.

They go well only when matched with a roll cage.

Just out of curiosity, did the factory start with a narrow or wide bidied 993? I love the look. I'd drive it in a minute on the street as well as the track. However, you can pretty much bet every kid in a riced out Honda will want to race you every time you come to a stop light.

From what I recall, the GT2 was based on a widebody but fitted with the narrow body C2/C4 front bumper cap.
But I may be wrong.

the GT2 used the as yet unreleased 993tt widebody tub.
w/ either aluminum or optionally plastic bolt on flairs the wheels were BBS 3 piece 5 spoke(still looked like the Speedlines of the RS though) ceterlocks on the race cars front 10x18 Et 32 245/645 tires rear 11x18 ET14 305/675 tires

I like the bolt-on flare look. Who makes the flares you're considering?
