There's some good info, but some mis-informed choices as well. I won't go into the whole Halon vs. Dry Chem debate, but a halon extinguisher only needs to be serviced every 10-12 years.
The most important thing missing from that thread is the mention of needing to know how to use an extinguisher properly for the best effect. The poor owner of the car below should have been able to extinguish this fire, but it looks like the extinguisher was un-serviceable. ![]() That's a dry-chem extinguisher. Notice how there is no powder on the ground. There's no way a Halon extinguisher is putting that fire out. |
