Most of these picture upload errors occur when the image size is too big. Modern day digital cameras produce pictures with very high resolution. So if you see this error, and you are trying to upload a picture that is large, try shrinking it down a little and attempt it again.

I have had two different problems while trying to upload pictures. One is that .jpeg is not recognized as a valid file name. To solve this you can just change it to.jpg.
Other problem is file size, you can change it if you have MS Office, in tools there is a program named Microsoft Photo Editor. Open the picture with this program, click on image, you will see a window, click on change size, you are given options in percentage or pixels, I usually decrease the size in percentage. After doing this save this picture with a different file name. Upload the photo , you should not have any problems. Hope this helps. |

This is new for Pelican. I recall being able to upload any file any size. Now apparently anything larger than 100K will fail.

I'm seeing this too....
"CGI Error The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers." When the photos are too large, the message would tell you the server can't handle it. I tried 500k and it won't post. This is a new issue probably started by the board swap thing that Wayne started then reversed. |

I just went to edit in paint and reduced my picture by 80 percent or so, and now Iam in business.

No Porsche content...
If you want a very flexible image viewer with also resizes single or even batches of files with adjustable compression, download a copy of Irfanview (just Google it, or go to http://www.irfanview.com/ I can't even begin to describe everything it does, it's that flexible (it can create a thumbnailed web page, complete with links to the full size images, in about a minute, start to end). I've used it for years. It's not even shareware, it's "freeware." I discovered it when it started getting listed as one of PCWorld's best downloads

There are two constraints that a pic file has to meet, and either one can cause an upload failure!
1. The pic can't be wider than 800 pixels 2. The file can't be larger than 100,000 bytes ... not 100K! If you aren't really familiar with picture editing software that is already loade on your machine ... get Irvanview! www.irfanview.com You can crop or shrink a pic to comply with Pelican's limits, and you can vary the JPG compression to shrink file size when you do 'save as' ...
