Angry Cayman Driver

I saw my first Cayman in traffic last night, still had the temporary tags on it.What a good looking car-- but the driver was doing 70 mph in rush hour freeway traffic, weaving in and out one handed and TALKING ON THE PHONE !!.
If that isn't a slapping offence I don't know what is.(Maybe he was calling his pals to brag)

Despite all the hype, I suspect most Cayman buyers will just be Boxster-types who care even more about their hair.

HA!!! Love it Dave. Unfortunately you just opened up a can of worms with the TL crowd who are going to insist that their cars are the direct desendants of the legendary RSRs.

Porches have always attracted the true enthusiasts and poseurs alike. It's been this way for as long as I can remember (SCs and later). I've found it most prevalent in whatever the new model is. Most recently, it was the 996. Currently, it's the Cayman and 997. Before, it was that fancy "widebody" SC, then a 930, maybe a Carrera TL, a Slantnose ...same stuff, different day.

But then the new wears off, and the poseurs get bored (or wreck em) and move on to other toys, which leaves the faithful enthusiasts behind the wheel. While I get annoyed at such stupidity as Breeang above points out, I try to maintain perspective. Afterall, some of us here will be buying such new toys for the "right" reasons, if not new then a few years down the line. Who here would scoff at owning a 996 GT3? Moreover, how many more new Porschephiles will come to the fold, drawn in by the current hardware, then learning to appreciate the history of the breed. THAT's what it's all about, IMHO.

In the meantime, true enthusiasts who do buy the newer cars get blasted as being a poser, just because we don't wave!!!

Will it ever end...???

Why not just wave and be a friendly member of the community?

RSR's were not Turbo - I'm going to start charging you 2 cents every time if you keep it up.

for a laugh you guys should check out the coxster forum on rennlist.

pages upon pages of discussion of pros and cons of leaving the word "gayman" on the rear... then a grammatical discussion of what it means to say "option delete"

Its the enthusiasts that make the brand what it is...

... those other types, the poseurs, want to be what we are with out all the work because they lack the understanding of what it truely is to be an enthusiast... time, effort, knowledge, energy, and every now and then a little faith that eventually, your favorite marque might get its head out of its collective rear and get back to what it should have been doing all along... that would be racing. (all arguments for profits and company survivability ignored)

I tried that. Truly. I got about a 20% return when I was in my Boxsters. About 30% or so in any 911. 0% in my 944. So I gave up on the whole thing. Sorry.

..oh yeah, and
