upgrade questions
Hello enthusiasts,
I am pulling my '86 3.2 next weekend to upgrade the cams. I am undecided on what style cam to go with. My car is strictly a street car and I do not want to change the stock look. Can anyone tell me the bhp benefits of a few different streetable camshafts? I will put a SW chip in the car with a bypass pipe after the cam switch has been made. thanks much! John

Let me make this a bit easier for those in the know. These are the cams I am thinking about going with. Can anyone tell me the bhp figures and the pros and cons of the these?

John,
I have 964 cams in my 3.2L. Great mid and top end. I hope to have HP numbers in the next couple of days...

I've got the 964 grind cams also. I recently dyno'd the car and the results were 258 hp rear wheels assuming 15% loss SAE corrected at 248 hp. This is with a couple of other modifications so I have no idea what the gain was with just the cams. I am very happy with them and need one more upgrade to a SW chip to get the best out of the changes. Plus the sound at idle is really cool.

Will consider newer model in 8 years when I turn 75 and then maybe not. 2012 BMW 528i (wife's) 2007 Toyota FJ (rain and off road days) |

ACH! That was crank hp not rear wheel. Rear wheel was 218 SAE corrected to 210. Sorry about that guys. I wish I was getting 250 hp rear wheels!
