Finally Fuchs!

After nearly a year with the cookie cutters, the long saga of fitting Fuch Alloys to my 911 is over. Coincidentally, the event occurred with the first sunny day in 32 days of continual rain.

With the help of many Pelican BBS threads, I decided to go with stock black on black paddles, with the anodized rim. I felt a fully polished rim would not match the silver body paint. In order to infuse a bit of 'bling', I painted the caps to match the body and then painted the logo relief in black. Thanks to 'Gordo' for the inspiration!

.... and a final vanity shot....

Next up: H4 headlights, lower the rear, drive with the targa roof off.....

Looks sharp! Thought of doing the same treatment to my '89 with Fuchs.

Fuchs baby! Nice.

wrt: "event occurred with the first sunny day in 32 days of continual rain."

Wish you would've bought them for Christmas. Those 32 days were a b*@ch. But the rain did bring a lot of fishies home.

Looks great!
Man, I don't miss the 32 days of rain, but sure spent some great times up near Pt. Townsend, WA. I even remember a couple of them!

Nice job! The fuchs suit the car very well. How did you go about tire size selection. I am in the process of fitting my 72 out with 15 x 6's on the front and haven't made up my mind whether to go with 6 or 7 on the rear. I don't want to add wheel arch flairs.
Cheers

You've got the narrow body - I have no idea about the clearances. Search the threads for info on this, I'm sure there is a long long thread on wheels and tires for your car.

Another vote for Fuchs. they are strong, relatively light, and they look SO right on a SC.

That's for track work, I assume?

Can you recommend a size/type? I'll only be hitting the track a couple of times over a year - is it worth doing at all?

Is it me, or does the car look a bit high? Not to rain on the parade, but your car looks like it could be lowered an inch or two?

GREAT WHEELS!!! Love the look.

Best,

No offense taken! Yes, I need to lower the car a bit. It's also not a matter of opinion - it looks wrong.

When I switched from 15s to 16s with a lower profile, I thought the ride height would alter a bit. It didn't. I've also been following the thread about the guy who is having a b****ch of a time with his torsion bars, I'm gathering info, cash and some clear time to dive into this project.

I'm also looking for other things to do (bump steer kit and/or turbo tie rods, shocks, sway bar bushings etc) so I don't have to get the thing aligned a dozen times.

My time and budget are not unlimited and the car works perfectly now for my needs. Considering my issues, experienced opinion is welcome.

Danno,
Congrats on picking up the Fuchs. I think I'm inspired with the center cap look.
The torsion bar reset for ride height shouldn't be that bad. It took me two tries to get the old E back to normal height (from too, too low for the East coast).
That parking lot looks familiar. Were those pics taken somewhere near "Mile Zero"?
Don't feel bad about 32 days, we had another 4 inches of snow yesterday.

Les,

Familiar eh? That picture was taken at the top of Mt Tolmie, widely regarded as one of the best make-out spots in the city.

....were you a teenager last time you were in Victoria?

No Danno,

We have friends in the city, who have been out there for most of 30 years. I first saw Victoria in 1978. Back then, I was ready to move out at the drop of a hat. Beautiful area. We were out most recently in 2002. I couldn't get over the build-up up the Sannich penninsula.
I guess for real 'romps' you head up island. How is the Shawnigan Lake road? Spring is coming!

My wife and I go up to the Long Beach / Tofino area every summer - the only great roads on the island.
