Just wondering what adhesive is best to mount a "Carrera" badge to the rear decklid? Thanks,

I use Permatex Black Silicon Adhesive Sealant for these types of applications.

Possibly, but the emblem I have is a used one. It looks like
it was mounted previously with some sort of rubber cement.

Uhhh...wouldn't ya just want to shell out the $22 for a new one vs. adding some slime to the current one and making a huge mess out of your rear deck lid?

PS: If the answer is no - I would skip the adhesive and go with two 3" lag bolts. That should get r done...

They do come on a sheet of waxed paper and with a self adhesive on them. I have a couple from the bodyshop. To use them a second time requires a liquid adhesive of some sort. Or, you can get some film (not motion picture film) adhesive on a backing paper and painstakingly cut it out after applying to the existing adhesive. Then peel the 2nd backing paper and apply to the body of the car. This is the best way, but tedious.

3M makes several tape types that are ideal for this.

Thanks, Milt. I wasn't sure if the original came with self adhesive or not.

You can use the auto grade, black double sided tape sold at autobody supply shops. Trace the Carrera text image onto the tape and cut a bit smaller with scissors. Apply to the clean back-side of the emblem and install.

As Milt mentioned there are many grades so make sure you specify the inteded use.

Thanks Rick, I'm going to give that a try.

exact location for mounting the badge?

Okay, does anyone know the exact location as in "centered and x inches below rear wing base"? I bought my car with a repaint where the PO never put a new badge on it.

IIRC...the deck with the Carrera tail did not have the Carrera script.

Mine came with the script and tail. I just removed it so I can eventually paint my car.
