add me to Idiot List

It was a nice day, till i decided to clean out the 911. My fire extinguisher had rolled under the seat. I pulled seat forward and placed it back on the hump. Needing to pull all those other items from under the seat, I pushed the Seat back.

I didnt notice that the Crappy Saftey pin had broke (plastic). So, whilst moving the seat back there was a hissing noise and i was temporarily blinded by a white haze. I removed my glasses to clean them, to see the horror before me.

I heard a voice in my head, that of Tommy Chong. "Man, i hope the cops dont show up. Do you have any idea what the street value of the interior is man?".

Let the cleaning begin

pmajka 02-18-2006 12:30 PM

Its an 88 carrera that was widebodied.
Hey, anyone know what i have to do to use the emergency jack on this? Notice running boards cover the Jack hole. Anyone with experience here.

Hay pmajka, nice car - how about some more pics??

Hetmann 02-18-2006 02:57 PM

Get a scissor jack and put it in your trunk. Throw the other one away. Do I win the prize?

I know they look sweet, but dont they feel like to much wheel for a n/a motor?

pmajka 02-18-2006 03:58 PM

I dont know....til this 911 (which is my first) i have never driven a porsche, and still havent driven another.
it has a 265 HP andial 3.7L.

seems to go well, although really comes alive at 4200 RPM.

Great looking car! I like those rocker panel/running boards.

Dantilla 02-18-2006 04:55 PM

I once stopped to help a guy stuck on the side of the road, and slid the seat of my pick-up into a can of Fix-A-Flat.

Bad idea. Truck interior, and me, covered in sticky, smelly goo.

Really bad idea.

pmajka,
Unless you take the running board off, otherwise the stock jack is junk. Mine is in the trunk forever.
Very nice wheels.

A friend set off the fire extinguisher in my Dodge truck after I won a tractor pull one time... It was late at night and I had to drive 40 miles home before I could get to the nearest vacuum to clean it up.

what comprises an 'andial 3.7l'...did andial bore the cylinders or were they replaced with larger pistons/cylinders?

from andial website

This conversion is based on the 3.8L RSR technology. The RSR has a 76.4mm stroke crankshaft and 102.0mm bore cylinders resulting in a displacement of exactly 3,743.8mm. The cylinder base sealing is done by the use of an O-ring imbedded in the crankcase bore. No copper gasket is used between cylinder and crankcase.

The 3.7L engine conversion for the 3.2L differs notably from the 3.8 RSR as follows:

The crank has a 74.4mm stroke instead of 76.4mm
The housing studs are closer spaced
The cylinder heads to cylinders use a different mating pattern
For cost reasons, ANDIAL decided to utilize the 74.4mm crankshaft. We are using the original RSR 102.0mm pistons with reduced compression. The shorter 74.4 mm stroke puts the piston 1.0mm below the desired T.D.C. (i.e. 76.4 – 74.4 = 2.0mm total difference or 1.0 mm per side). To compensate for this difference ANDIAL had Carrillo make an RSR connecting rod that is 1.0mm longer, placing the piston in the correct position.

A special cylinder was manufactured by Mahle. It has the correct cylinder stud spacing, the proper match for the cylinder heads and is 4.0 mm longer than standard. The cylinder is longer because the case is machined down 4.0mm to provide a solid footing for the larger cylinders. The case is also bored out to 107.0mm to accept the cylinders and an O-ring grove installed. ANDIAL provides this case machining service, or as an alternative, a good machine shop can do the modifications following our instructions.

pmajka..thanks for posting the andial info. :) sounds like you're saying it really 'comes on cam' around 4k...just a little later than my 2.7 liter, but by then i'm losing sight of the rear of your car i'm guessing.. ;)

Blacked RUFs, any chance of getting a pic showing more wheel? I'm thinking blacked RUFs are going on my black 930 in the not-too-distant future...

Lukesportsman 02-19-2006 08:27 AM

I'm not typically a lover of boxed rockers on the street, BUT your car looks very well balanced. Very nice and welcome to the group.

Look to the street rod industry for a high quality machined aluminum jack that is both light and collapses to a very low profile. It's so pretty you won't mind it in the trunk, just tie it down for when those 11"rs turn into the corner :)
