long shot question on B&B mufflers

Any one know the center to center of a B&B muffler for b&B headers?

Thanks

you guessed it. I have some B&B headers here but off a 993 so they don't bolt on the one side. I have them mounted very close to where they should be held by a jack etc(hookey I know but you gotta do what you gotta do) I have the muffler tacked and the tail pipes on (ruf style for impact bumper car) But want to verify the location. One thing also if you check can you tell me with the flanges on a straight surface do they sit flat? This one does not and the last B&B muffler I had here did not but Any help would be appreciated in verifing that

36 7/8" for the b&b's on my 964 3.6. the flange is not flat.

I want a quiet 'around town' version with room to cut in cats.

Why not just make a 2 in 2 out universal crossflow and folks can have them welded in the way they like. That's what Fabspeed does. I love my Dynomax #17725 but it doesn't come in stainless.

gee bernie thats all you want! The issue you guys have is that the B&B headers are so dam far back on the car! It makes it hard to fit a bunch of stuff in there.

Moses,

Do you think That people want to get something they need to weld together? I was thinking that bolt on is easier for most folks

I am one of those people, I dont have a welder and there is no way im leaving my car with those Midas fuchers. A bolt on solution over a weld up would be easier for any DIYer any day of the week.

That said, I really want to get a welder soon and practice.

Ben,

What do you think of moving the 'collector' back on the b&b headers to allow for a cat? I know nothing about header/muffler design, so i dont know if that would be a huge no no.

It just seems like a huge pain in the ars to get a legit header/cat/exhaust setup for these 3.6's.

Bernie thats why I am coming out with 993 exchnagers to cats and mufflers shortly. And yes a big deal to move B&B's back probably a couple of hours each one and that coverts to 300 bucks in labor added to the cost of the B&B. Although a good idea!

I had the collectors on my B&B headers shortened to make room for a better muffler fit. The junction point was all that changed, really, since I kept the same length of same-diameter pipe coming out of the 3-1 reduction point.

(The cost to do it in my case was minimal. But then, look at those welds. )

whats your layout for getting cats/muffler on the 993 headers? they also seem to go pretty far back and are angled in together, no?

you got a total $ guess for that? (pm me if you'd rather)
