High Idle on SC - Follow up - Figure this Out!

Thanks to everyone for the advice you provided last week on my high idle problem. This weekend I replaced all the vacuum lines (small ones). I found a couple that were suspect and found that the car ran a little better.

However, when I test drove the car, the high idle was still there. To make this a short story I looked in my CIS book and started trying to test the components. I unhooked the vacuum line from the AAR and tried to plug it. However, I didn’t have a bolt large enough so I tried to take foil and place it over the AAR and put the hose back on. When I started the car back up it idled at about 300 rpm then died. I started it 2 or 3 times and it did the same thing. Somewhat frustrated I put the hose back on and restarted the care. Guess What? The idle was normal. I drove it and it was working perfectly. I let the car cool down twice and restarted and test drove it. Each time the idle worked very well.

I am glad that it is working better but I don’t understand what changed. What do you guys think of this?

Thanks
Milo

Nice Job.

I still would suggest having the a/f mixture checked/adjusted by a qualified shop.
