Rebuild or Replace...HELP!!
So further reading has brought me to more questions. I currently have a 2.7 with 99k and by reading what everyone states about the 2.7L it seems like it may be time for a big decision. Money not really being an issue as much a reliability what should I do. The car cosmetically is perfect (after about $6k invested). So now to the engine… If I had the engine rebuilt with the mag/alum case would I encounter the same problems as I do now? Or should I just spend the money and upgrade to a 3.0 or a 3.2 that is one of the most reliable. Any recommendations, advice, or opinions???
Thanks again and I truly appreciate the knowledge shared by all Pelicans! |

Just so you know, you are not alone, that is the same situation I am currently in,some say that the 2.7 can be a good engine once everything is addressed but if you buy a 3.0 or 3.2 you probably still have to address issues, who knows what the answer is but the one fact is it costs the same to rebuild a 2.7,3.0 or 3.2 pretty much and you still have to buy the other two where you already have the 2.7,it really depends on your usage,if you want to track it then a 3.0 or more but street driven and even de the 2.7 can be a great engine, good luck,Marty

IMHO, going with a 3.2 is a worth the extra $$$. The trick is to find a nice 3.2

You are not alone. I had the same problem and chose to rebiuld since I would do it myself (except for machine work and mods to case) and elected to go TBitz EFI for dependabliity. If you get Wayne's book and do it yourself it would cut cost. Just got the engine running and will post in the near future.
