Wire identification help

First wire is black with purple stripe. 2nd wire is solid black. Can you tell me what they are from / do? and where they get connected?
There is a male connector on the distributor and it looks like the black wire with purple stripe gets a female connector attached and connects to this part.

The shorter black wire appears to have been cut also. Wire is solid black.

I have additional images if they will help in identifying these.

black and purple wire should be for your tach.

Kurt,

The black and purple wire is the "power supply" to the tach. Should it be connected to the male prong on the distributor?

(I realized looking at the image that I have to re-route my wires under the connecting linkage too. D@mn it!)

I should have disconnected these and I would have had a better idea where they went. Trying to use my 71' car as a guide.

Thanks

Patrick

Patrick,

Both Black and Black/Violet wires should be piggybacked together at the distributor trigger connector to the points ... both of these wires are trigger sources ... for the CDI unit, Speed Switch, and tachometer!

Warren,

Once again Thank you so much!

It is really great that you so willingly share your knowledge and information with folks on this board. I can tell you it is a major reason I purchase stuff from Pelican (to support this source) and had the b@lls to try to rebuild this entire car myself.

It is getting pretty close now too!
