Resonator tip - do they work?

I recently installed the Magnaflow dual in dual out on my 2.7. It's great but just a little too much at certain RPMs. So, I was considering getting some resonator tips and was wondering if anyone had experience with them or had some recommendations. I was thinking about getting some that clamp on so I can test them first before welding. I left plenty of tail pipe to work with just in case I had this problem.

2.5" pipe

Thanks,

You can cap one side of the dual out and it should cut some resonance out.

Yeah I will probably do that for inspection. I hate to cut the flow all the time.

Monza tips do a great job and sound good as well.

Monza looks pretty good. What type of difference do you get going 2.5 inlet to 3.5 outlet -VS- 2.5 inlet to 4.0 outlet? Does the larger size cut down on the sound or just change the pitch?

Not sure about the size difference, I used the regular style on a turbo. I toned it down a bit and gave a nice sound.

Per muffler shop, the larger the inside tip opening the louder the sound. Only a tip with packing that is the same inside diameter will tone down the sound. The Monza look to all have a 2" inside diameter (with packing) regardless of the outside diameter. (the ones I am looking at)

The Pacesetter Monza tips do work and work very well for a 2.7. I have 2 1/2" pipe with a 3" resonator tip. I was getting a headache after 20 minutes of carb tuning and after I put the tips on I had no problems. Of course I got a headache later when I could not get the carbs tuned... I still need to get them welded on. I clamped them for now just to see if it was worth it and they do their job. They seemed to take teh sharpness out of the tone and mellowed it down some.

Also, Pacesetter seems to be a very good company to work with. I bought two "Closeout" tips for 1/2 price. Only problem is they did not match. They were slightly different models. I emailed Pacesetter to see if they could do anything and they had me email them pics of the tips. Eric at Pacesetter found one in stock that matched and 2 day'd it to me via FedEx... at no charge! I sent him the mismatched one back and all is well.
