Color change or not?
I posted earlier at work and now I'm home and my post is no longer here??
Would like feedback re a color change whenI repaint my 82 SC coupe. It's Platinum Metallic, which I like a lot, but I'm considering changing to Speed Yellow or Ferrari Yellow (PPG paint) Any feedback on pros & cons of changing color? It'll cost $500 more if I do. I'm not a purist about whats Porsche correct, nor do I care about resale value as I'll never sell the car. |

It sounds like you are a perfect person for a color change. What is wrong with your paint that you are repainting it?

Id keep it what it is which is a nice color, I have a yellow car and it is nice and original but its on an early car. Its all taste and what you want,do a search on yellow 911's then make your decision.

I love yellow too. Every time I see one on the road I admire it. But.... I think I would tire of it quickly. It's a real attention getter and that has its' ups and downs.

Sorry about the double post. Thanks for your responses - it's going to be painted Platinum again.
It needs repainting because I parked all alone at the far end of an underground parking garage for a business/breakfast meeting, left, backed out cutting the wheel and stupidly put the impression of a very large cement pillar on the passenger side front fender. Since I've got 35k in my Golden Porsche, and it had a partial hood respray by the previous owner and surprisingly few nicks & scratches over the last 24 years, I decided to upgrade rather than patch the paint so it'll be to the same standard aesthetically as it is mechanically (the interior needs no work whatsoever). I was surprised to find that I can get the sandblasted windshield replaced for only $175 (new glass) plus the gasket. It's not SEKURIT, but it's D.O.T.approved & I'm not a purist.
