Porsche Crest What are the 1990 C2 Gotchas? Considering uptrade

Thinking about getting into one of these, about 110K miles, so probably all original drivetrain. Fair condition, restorable to a nice example. Don't know about price yet, but what is the going rate for these on the market?

I am most interested in the safety features (airbags, rear shoulder belts for the kids)

Thanks.

The 2 biggest issues are the head gasket(or rather lack of same) and DMF.

Look for oil at the cyl/head interface.

Additionally these are getting long in the tooth, all the gaskets are drying and seeping, suspension rubber is dried and compressed etc.

Excuse me ignorance, what is the DMF? Heard about the head gaskets on these before, I guess they leak oil--and compression too?

Dual Mass Flywheel

Make sure you do a PPI with someone who is familiar with the 964's

as previously stated.....PPI is a must. no question about it.
964s can be great cars. I LOVED mine and truly miss it.
however, the cylinder head mating can be a nasty issue if its really leaking oil. not really concerning if its just seeping a bit. a lot of it depends on how much you expect from the car. in my opinion....a 1990 is not going to be perfectly dry. at the same time, it shouldn't leave puddles either.
use your trusted mechanic for a PPI and if you don't have one...post your location and we'll pitch in and find you one.
Cheers....hope it works out for you.
Kyle.
