Exclamation Who is going to rebuild my engine? Its at motor meister!

Hmmm...Where to begin....I trust you guys...you have helped me with everything from my first 912E when I was 15. Some how my dumb @ss has missed the Motor Meister comments. When almost every porsche guy on here says "run" or "get a beer"...I am not gonna lie...I am scared! Just bought a 3.0 and shipped it to Motor Meister! I saw a comment and searched the fourm....obviously I am not stupid and/or do not want to waste $7,500.00. I shipped it about 2 weeks ago. I AM going to call them tomorrow and get it sent back ASAP. One or two posts I would ignore...but there are more than I can count. I have two engines that I need to rebuild. I can do it, but want it done by someone that lives for Porsche engines and knows the extra details, as I am sure you guys understand. So when I get my 3.0 back and I was going to send off my '65 911 engine tomorrow to them....WHO (who is very REPUTABLE, or the man) should I have rebuild them? I just wasted shipping...but from the sounds of it $300 down the drain is a good deal? I need some advice guys. I want some good engines...not 2000 miles then a fire. Let me know please (cry for help) thanks.

hey,
just a thought. There are many of "our car" expert mechanic in here (CA and a regular member in this board). Why don't you leave the engine there ar MM and find some better shop here in CA. Ask them to help you to pick it up at MM. That way you don't have to ship it back from MM and ship it out again.

Henry Schmidt at Supertec Performance. Very reputable, his knowledge is unbelievable and as a bonus his prices are very fair. Do a search and see what you think.

Make sure you get YOUR motor back. Hope you have the serial# written down somewhere.

Good luck!

Tell them that you sent the wrong engine and need that one back asap. Arrange for the shipping back to you on your own. DO NOT depend on them for anything!

Do you have a record of what exactly you have shipped?

Good Luck

It wouldn't be the first time Henry (Supertec) has rescued a motor from MM. Motor Meister strikes again

You have some excellent shops in the Denver area. Just search or ask Grady Clay. No reasone to ship it across the country.

Klober,

Are you in Colorado? Why don't you get it built here? I recommend Greg Johnson at Eurosport Ltd. He will build it right and you can go see the progress.

Are you doing a concours restoration on your '65? Henry is very good with 2.0 liter motors, he builds a lot of race engines to that specification. IF you ask him nicely AND set a clearly defined set of expectations, he might do a "concours" restoration which takes more time and has more variables (which is the reason for a clearly defined plan and set of expectations).

Do NOT just trust it to somebody who will bugger everything up with superceded parts like the oil lines, cam boxes, valve covers, etc. and throw yours in the trash and powder coat everything.

If I were you, I'd have a fellow pelicanite run over to MM and secure your engine that's probably still iintact.

Call the shipper to see when and if the motor has been delivered.

I think someone should send an engine or perhaps a very rare part of one to MM to have it loooked at.
When they "sub" the part...charge them with fraud/theft and have them shut down forever.

Just calling MM will not be enough, you'll need to fax them for the return of your engine so you have proof that you demanded the return.
MM might just ignore a phone call and quickly dismantle your engine and demand some payment for the work before returning the engine.
I hope that doesn't happen and that your engine will come back with all parts attached.
Is it a 3.4 liter already? Or are you planning to make it a 3.4?
With all the cost involved, it seems to me that a 3.6 would make more sense.
Keep us posted about your progress and how MM deals with this issue.

Poor Henry, I can see him walking in to get your motor and being directed to a box of filthy parts from 7 different engines and the owner of MM saying "You owe us $300 for dissasembly and cleaning!"....
