Can injectors get plugged?
Howdy, 77 2.7 with CIS. Doesn't seem like it's running on all 6, but not a spark problem. Do/can injectors get plugged?

Absolutely!! Don't know anything about your car, but try a can of Chevron Techron, accept no alternatives! Then drive the crap out of it.

Can you buy the can O Techron at any Chevron? Anyone know if it is available in Canada? I take it that Techron is a fuel additive? If it is a fuel additive what does it do exactly?

Try the chain auto parts stores, cheaper than at Chevron by a lot. Its not an additive, its an injector cleaner.

I second that. Never buy Techron at the Chevron station.......way, way too much $$. Go to PepBoys. I buy mine in cases at Costco. Not sure if it is actually cheaper at Costco since whenever I go to Costco you tend to ignore your budget ![]() ![]() For example, "Honey, I am buying eggs, bacon and milk at Costo." 2 hours later you come home with mdse worth $400.00 ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sometimes a $10 bottle of miracle juice isn't going to cut it...
Don't discount the possibility that your almost 30 year old injectors might have exceeded their useful life... After chasing an intermittent rough running problem on my 3.2 for nearly 2 years, it turned out to be a couple of bad injectors. I replaced just about everything except the injectors prior... With a new set of injectors, the car has never run better with a 140k miles and counting...

A couple of us Pelicans were discussing this just yesterday. Technical Service Bulletin 2510, released December 6, 1985 says:
"Partially restricted fuel injectors can be cleaned through the following procedure and material: 1. Fill up fuel tank 2. Pour 20 ounces of "Techron" into the fuel tank. Note: Techron is marketed by Chevron 3. The car should be driven until the fuel tank is half empty. 4. Refill the fuel tank. 5. This procedure, as outlined from points 1 to 4 should then be repeated 2 additional times. 6. To keep injectors clean, we recommend adding 20 ounces of Techron after 5 fuel tank refills. However, never more than 20 ounces per 3,000 miles." 'nuff said! Randy
