16 x 8 Turbo Fuchs vs Regular Fuchs

Hi - Im in Hong Kong and I've been offered a pair of Fuchs 2 x 7's and a pair of 16 x 8 Fuchs off an early Turbo 911, these Turbo wheels evidently have original blue / black painted paddle inserts.

Can someone explain what the difference is in design of the Turbo vs the regular 8" Fuchs (pics would be great) and more importantly whether they would fit my 1989 3.2 Carrera.

I am unable to see them physically or get a scan as they're in a remote village in China !!
Cheers
Richard

Turbo 911 8x16 Fuchs and regular 8x16 Fuchs are the same wheels. No difference.

There are different 8x16 Fuchs which are 951 wheels. These wheels have a different offset than the 911 8x16 wheels.

You'll be fine with turbo 911 8x16 Fuchs on the rear of your '89 Carrera.

FWIW, 911 Turbo (pre 1990) and 930 are the same thing. In other words it wouldn't be a 930 unless it had a turbo. From what I understand, "911 Turbo" is the USA (maybe North American) designation and "930" is the ROW/European designation for the same car...generally speaking.

Richard,

Here's a picture of 8x16's on my 87. I put the original rears 7x16 on the front. (after Al Reed did his magic on them all...)

Good luck with the wheels. You'll like the difference.

Hi Richard,

Not only will the 16x8's fit on your cars' rear, this size came as an option in 1989, so essentially they were meant to be.....

Cheers

Wow, I'd love to hear the story on how they got there.

Here's my SC with 7s and 8s. I had to roll the front fenders to get the 7s to fit. The car is dirty from autocrossing.

Um, are you sure they're real Fuch's, and not knockoffs?

There are 2 and only 2 versions of the 8x16 5 spoke Fuch wheel used on 911 ans 944/951 thru '89

version 1
8x16 ET+10.6mm
fits the back of SC/Carrera flare cars

version 2
8x16 ET +23.3mm
fits the front of SC/Carrera flare cars

either can be used on other roles w/ various spacers.
