930 slant nose vs regular 930
Everywhere I've read, the slant nose has about 10% (30HP) more than a standard version of the 930.. Does anyone know or have a list of components that make up the 30HP difference?

I believe the S (Sport) in the 930S designation is actually for the higher HP powerplant....and it may be higher than 30HP difference.
Larger intercooler 1 bar boost spring (?) Free flow exhaust

Rick is right about the larger intercooler and exhaust but according to the Porsche PET cd, the wastegates are the same. They do list a different turbocharger for the S and LE versions. I think it is a K-27 11/11. I just got the turbo support bracket from Porsche from the 1989 930 LE(ROW) to use in the installation of a K-27 7200 turbo on my '88 and it is indeed different than the stock bracket used to support the 3DLZ turbo.

According to "Original Porsche 911" by Peter Morgan, the Turbo SE slant-nose has increased power from:
-higher lift cams -revised exhaust system -higher boost pressure -larger intercooler Kirk

The turbo LE(M148) optioned cars used a K-27 7006, not the 11/11 as I stated earlier. The PET cd does not show a difference in wastegates so I am not sure about increased boost, could be though because I can't find a detailed parts listing for the wastegate internals. I believe the M148 cars were rated at 330 hp as well.

7006 is an 11/11. You were correct.

Thanks Stephen. Do you know if the LE and S cars ran higher boost and used different cams? I have seen reference to "S" cams before.

They used different cams, but the boost was the same level.

Stephen,
I've never found a part number for the revised cams, although I've heard the cams used on these engines had higher lift. Do you know the part numbers? There seems to be nothing in PET. JR |

I will have to dig them up. They were Groupe B cams. I am not sure of the number off the top of my head, but I will get it when I get to work.

I'd bet there were differences between the Euro and US "S" cars.
Some digging suggests the "Recirculation Valve" was deleted as well.

I didn't think US slant noses had any performance enhancements over the regular bodies. Has anybody ever confirmed the upgrades on an actual non-modified car?

The slant option itself is not a performance option. The SE option was as well as the original S.

Yes, both options could be ordered. I have only seen one like yours were it was actually optioned with both.

Would it be feasible to see a 30hp with that combination on a regualr engine then?
