Tapping noise during driving?
My car recently started making a tapping noise after finishing a track day at the end of last year. I initially thought that they were "track boogers" from the race tires hitting some of the suspension components since the noise seems to vary with rotational speed. However, after switching back to my street tires, I still get the noise which sounds like a light tapping sound similar to a woodpecker.
This only happens when the car is in motion and rolling. I tried having the car roll in neutral downhill and the sound persists so I don't think its motor related. Jacking up the car and freely spinning the wheels however, does not initiate the tapping. I tried checking the CV joints, but don't see anything out of the ordinary. I'm stuck, anyone have any suggestions?

I see that your car is a 1975 so I don't know if this will help or not...
I had one of my brake pad sensors come loose and tap against the weights on my wheel. maybe check your brake lines to see if a hanger came off and a line is hanging low.

I'd guess brakes. Have someone drive next to you and see if they can tell where it's coming from.

Thanks, I'll check it out. The sound comes from the rear, but I can't seem to duplicate it with the rear jacked up.
