Bilstein custom valving for track

Has anyone sent away their Bilstein shocks/inserts to be custom valved for rebound/compression? I have the non-adjustable Bilstein Sports and am upgrading the torsion bars from 22/28 to 23/31 in my '74 which sees 95% DE track use. I'm running in the instructor group and wonder if it's worth the expense and effort. The shocks are fairly new and not worn out. The car weighs about 2700 lbs. If I do this, what rebound/compression rates work with this combination?

Steve:

Without question, custom valving (correctly selected) makes a big difference in handling and control when spring rates are increased on these cars.

Valving is chosen after factoring vehicle weight, spring rates, and wheel/tire sizes, but whether or not its worth it does depend on your experience and driving skills.

What Steve *should* be saying is..... "send them to me and I will set you up"! He is just too nice of a guy to say it! Steve did the valving on my car (custom coil overs) and they are magic. Absolutely transformed what I had thought was an already great handling vehicle. He really knows his stuff. I know he set up Randy's 3.8 rs replica as well and Randy couldn't say enough to me about how great the valving was. I am sure many more folks could say the same about his valving.
I have also sent a couple others his way who came away very impressed.

Cheers
